ZodiacPress

Full Setup Guide

This “Full Setup Guide” shows you how to set up ZodiacPress to generate birth reports with interpretations.

  1. Install and activate the plugin.
  2. In your WordPress dashboard, go to ZodiacPress –> Settings
  3. Under “Planets and Points Settings,” make your choices for the two settings:
    • Choose which planets/points you want to show on the “Planets/points In The Signs” section of the report.
    • Choose which planets/points to show on the “Planets/points In The Houses” section of the report.
  4. Click “Save Changes.”
  5. Click “Aspects” under the “Natal Report” tab to see the Aspects Settings.
    • Choose which aspects to show on the report.
    • Choose which planets/points to calculate aspects for.
  6. Click “Save Changes.”
  7. Click “Orbs” under the “Natal Report” tab. This page gives you granular control over aspect orbs. It lets you assign different orbs for each planet, and for each type of aspect.

For example, you could set the orb for all Quincunx aspects to 1.5. For the rest of the aspects, you could set an orb of 8 for Sun and Moon, an orb of 2 for all Chiron aspects, an orb of 1 for all Vertex aspects, and 5 for the rest. If an orb is left blank, the default orb of ‘8’ will be used for that setting. The number you enter represents degrees, but enter just the number. Be sure to click “Save Changes” at the bottom to save your changes.

  8. Click “Display” under the “Natal Report” tab to see the Display Settings.
    • Add Chart Wheel To Natal Report: This setting lets you add a chart wheel image to the birth report. You can choose to add the chart wheel above the report, or at the end of the report. By default, this is set to NOT add the chart wheel.
    • Birth Report Intro: You can enter an introduction for the Birth Report. This is optional.
    • Birth Report Closing: You can enter “closing text” for the Birth Report. This is optional.
    • Hide Empty Titles: Check this option if you want the birth report to skip a title when its interpretation is missing. For example, the default behavior is this: if you didn’t enter an interpretation for Moon in Pisces, the report will still show the title, “Moon in Pisces,” but without any interpretation text. If you enable this option, then it will not show the “Moon in Pisces” title until you enter some interpretation text for it.
  9. Click “Save Changes.”
  10. Click “Technical” under the “Natal Report” tab to see the Technical Settings.
    • Allow Unknown Birth Time: If you want to allow people with unknown birth times to generate a birth report, check this box. If enabled, this will allow them to generate a basic report. If this setting is enabled, and a planet changes signs on the day they enter into the form, they will be given a note for that planet that looks like this:

NOTE: {planet} changed signs on the day you were born. It moved from {sign 1} to {sign 2}. Therefore, you will need your exact time of birth to know which of these two signs your {planet} is in.

However, this will not apply to items that require a birth time (Moon, Ascendant, Midheaven, Vertex, Part of Fortune). Their report will exclude positions and aspects involving Moon, Ascendant, Midheaven, Vertex, Part of Fortune, and exclude the entire “Planets in Houses” section.

  11. Click “Save Changes” to save any changes.
  12. At the top of the page, click the Misc tab.
  13. Enter your GeoNames Username and click “Save Changes.”

This is required in order to use GeoNames webservice to get birth place coordinates and timezones for the birth reports.

You can quickly create a free GeoNames account here.

After you create your GeoNames account, you must also enable the free web services for your username.

    Here are the steps:

    1. After you create your GeoNames user name, activate your account using the activation link that they send to your email.
    2. Log in to your GeoNames account.
    3. After you are logged in, go to the GeoNames Manage Account page.
    4. On that page, scroll to the bottom where it says “Free Web Services.” There will be a link for you to click in order to enable the free web services. Or, it will say that your account is already enabled for free web services.
    5. When you click to enable the free web services, you should get this success message:

"The account YOUR_USERNAME has been successfully enabled to use the free webservices."

If you do not get that message, or if you instead get a login form, then it did not work. In this case, you must log in again, and then repeat step C and D.

  14. Click “ZodiacPress” in your dashboard menu. This is where you’ll enter your astrology interpretations. Under the “In Signs” tab, you’ll see links for each Planet that you enabled in the settings. When you enter an interpretation, BE SURE TO click “Save Changes” at the bottom of each page before navigating between these links. The same goes for the “In Houses” tab and the “Aspects” tab. Under each tab, you’ll see the planets (or aspects) which you enabled in the settings. You’re not required to fill in ALL of interpretations. Birth reports will still list all of the planets in signs, planets in houses, and aspects, even if the interpretations are not entered. Birth reports will include a particular interpretation if it exists (i.e. if you’ve entered it). You can use some basic HTML tags in the interpretation, including a (links), strong (bold text), em (italics), and img (images). See Entering Interpretations for more details.
  15. Finally, add the [birthreport] shortcode to a page or post. To do this, paste [birthreport] on a page or post where you want the form to appear. This is where the birth report form will appear. Go to this page on the front of your site to generate a birth report.

(For more help with shortcodes, see How To Use a Shortcode.)

NOTE: By default, ZodiacPress uses the Tropical zodiac, also known as the Western zodiac. To use the Sidereal zodiac (commonly used in Indian astrology), please see Use Sidereal Zodiac.

Hello, I’ve installed and activated the Zodiacpress plugin and attempted to past the birth report shortcode into a post. The form appears, but the “Submit” button is not active and will not let me generate the report. Thank you for any help.

I just updated Step 13 on this page because many people were forgetting to “enable the web services” for their GeoNames username. It was easy to skip over that part, so I made the instructions more clear. Please see that step (13) to make sure you did that. I hope this helps.
